And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
1 Cor 2:1-5

Did you notice they came in the demonstration and power of the Spirit?

Did you also notice Luke 4:13-14, it says Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit and began his ministry and his fame went everywhere?

Did you also notice Acts 10:38, how God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and with power, and he went about doing good, healing the sick, casting out devils even as they tormented humans, raising the dead, etc.

Did you also notice that Acts 1:8, says “And when the Holy Spirit is come upon you, you shall receive power to be my witnesses…”

In all these scriptures, did you notice a common denominator?
The Spirit and power are mentioned in the same breath every time.

Jesus said when the Holy Ghost comes upon you, you will receive power.
Acts 10:38 says Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power.

What is the anointing, but the coming of the Holy Ghost upon someone?
But beyond that, something else happens once the anointing comes. It’s called Power. The power of the Spirit.

The power that transforms a previously incapable person to a capable one.

So Samuel told (king) Saul, that when the Spirit came on him he would be changed into a different man.
That is a reference to the power of the Spirit.

It seems everywhere, the Spirit is mentioned in connection with power, because it is the power of change or transformation.

If we are going to be or experience what Jesus is or was talking about in the kingdom of God, or if we are going to demonstrate the difference in Jesus to our world, then it will have to be by the transforming power of the Spirit.

It’s simply the way of Jesus.

Hence he told his disciples to wait for the power, to wait to be endued with power from in high.

It’s the season of Pentecost!

Let’s return to Jesus and how he did things.
