Nigeria and South Africa stand at a critical point in history. Across both nations, people are searching for answers about leadership, purpose, identity, corruption, morality, national unity, and the future of the country. Many are asking difficult questions:

• What is the role of the Church in the nation?
• Does God truly have a purpose for this land?
• How should believers respond to the challenges around them?
• Where do I fit into God’s plan for Nigeria and the nations of the earth?

These are not merely political or social questions. They are deeply spiritual questions.

The answers cannot be found solely in political systems, economic reforms, tribal identities, education, activism, or national strength. While those things have their place, the deeper answer is found in God Himself—the Creator of the earth, the Author of nations, and the Builder of His Church.

This teaching is a call to believers, seekers, leaders, young people, and the entire INAV family to understand the relationship between

• The Church
• The Nation
• And you as an individual

When these three are properly understood through Scripture, believers become spiritually grounded, nationally responsible, and Kingdom-minded.

1. THE REASON GOD CREATED THE EARTH AND THE NATIONS

The earth was not created accidentally. Nations did not emerge outside of God’s awareness. Human history is not random. God created the world with divine intention, structure, and purpose.

Isaiah declares:

“For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens—He is God, who formed the earth and made it; He established it and did not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited.” — Isaiah 45:18

God intentionally created the earth to be inhabited. Humanity was designed to live in relationship with Him while stewarding the earth under His authority.

From the beginning, God’s purpose was not chaos but divine order.

God Established Nations for a Purpose

The Bible teaches clearly that God Himself established nations and determined their boundaries.

Paul explained this powerfully while speaking in Athens:

“From one man He made every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands. They were to seek God, and perhaps feel around for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.” — Acts 17:26-27

This passage reveals several powerful truths:

1. Humanity Comes from One Source

Every tribe, ethnicity, and race came from one man—Adam. This means no tribe is superior to another. No ethnic group owns God more than another.

Before culture and nationality, humanity shares one origin in God.

2. God Determines Nations

The existence of nations is not outside divine sovereignty. God established nations and appointed their boundaries and seasons.

Nigeria’s existence is not an accident.

3. Nations Exist So People Can Seek God

Nigeria exists so millions can encounter God, discover truth, and fulfill divine purpose.

This changes how believers view national identity. While ethnicity and nationality matter, they are not ultimate. Our highest identity is found in God.

You may be Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ibibio, Tiv, Fulani, or from any other background—but before all those things, you are a human being created in God’s image.

2. THE ORIGIN AND ROLE OF THE CHURCH

One of the greatest misunderstandings today is confusing the Church with the nation.

The Church is not Nigeria.
The Church is not America.
The Church is not a tribe.
The Church is not a political movement.

The Church is God’s spiritual people called out from every nation to belong to Jesus Christ.

Jesus declared:

“I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” — Matthew 16:18

What Is the Church?

The word “Church” comes from the Greek word ekklesia, meaning:

“The called-out assembly.”

The Church consists of people redeemed through Christ from every tribe, language, and nation.

The Church began visibly in Jerusalem, but it was never meant to remain local or ethnic.

On the Day of Pentecost:

“Every nation under heaven” heard the gospel in their own language. — Acts 2:5

This was intentional.

From the beginning, the Church was:

• Multi-ethnic
• Multi-cultural
• Multi-national
• Christ-centered

The Church belongs to Jesus, not to any earthly system.

THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE CHURCH

The Church has a divine assignment.

Its mission is:

• To preach the gospel
• To make disciples
• To reveal Christ
• To demonstrate God’s Kingdom
• To reconcile people to God

Jesus gave the Church this command:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” — Matthew 28:19

Notice the Church’s assignment:
Not political domination.
Not tribal supremacy.
Not cultural pride.

The mission is discipleship and Kingdom expansion through the gospel.

THE CHURCH MUST REMAIN DISTINCT

The Church must never lose its identity.

When the Church becomes:

• Politically obsessed
• Tribally divided
• Materially driven
• Spiritually compromised

…it loses its prophetic voice.

The Church is called to be:

• Salt
• Light
• A witness
• A prophetic presence
• A spiritual family

Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14

Light does not become darkness to influence darkness.

The Church influences society best when it remains deeply rooted in Christ.

3. YOU: THE INDIVIDUAL IN GOD’S PLAN

After understanding the nation and the Church, the next question becomes:

“What about me?”

This is where many believers struggle. Some feel insignificant. Others feel forgotten. Many wonder if their lives truly matter in God’s larger plan.

The answer is yes.

God’s plan is deeply personal.

Jeremiah 29:11 declares:

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

Though this was spoken to Israel in exile, the principle remains powerful:
God works intentionally in the lives of His people—even in difficult environments.

You Are Not in Nigeria by Accident

Your presence in Nigeria is not random.

God placed you here:

• For purpose
• For influence
• For witness
• For Kingdom impact

Whether you are:

• A student
• A teacher
• A business owner
• A civil servant
• A media professional
• A trader
• A minister
• A creative
• A young believer

…God has a purpose for your life.

The Kingdom of God advances through ordinary people surrendered to God.

YOUR ROLE AS A BELIEVER

As a believer in Nigeria, you are called to:

1. Live Faithfully

God calls believers to integrity, holiness, honesty, and righteousness.

2. Represent Christ

Your lifestyle should reflect Jesus.

3. Pray for the Nation

Believers are commanded to pray for leaders and nations.

“I exhort therefore, that… prayers… be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority…” — 1 Timothy 2:1-2

4. Work Diligently

Believers should contribute positively to society.

5. Advance God’s Kingdom

Your life should point people toward Christ.

4. KEEPING THE DISTINCTIONS CLEAR

One major problem in modern Christianity is confusion between:

• The Nation
• The Church
• The Individual believer

The Bible keeps these distinctions clear.

THE NATION

The nation handles:

• Governance
• Law
• Justice
• Civil order

Romans 13 teaches that governing authorities are established by God for societal order.

THE CHURCH

The Church handles:

• The gospel
• Spiritual growth
• Discipleship
• Worship
• Kingdom mission

The Church’s primary assignment is spiritual.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The believer lives in both worlds.

You are:

• A citizen of a nation
• A citizen of heaven

Jesus summarized this balance perfectly:

“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” — Matthew 22:21

Believers must engage society responsibly without losing Kingdom identity.

5. SILAS: A MODEL OF BALANCE

Silas provides a powerful biblical example of balancing faith and citizenship.

He was:

• A prophet
• A missionary
• A Church leader
• A Roman citizen

In Philippi, Silas and Paul were beaten and imprisoned unjustly.

Yet in prison:

• They worshipped
• They prayed
• They remained faithful

At midnight, God shook the prison through supernatural power.

The jailer encountered salvation because two believers remained faithful under pressure.

But notice something important:
Silas also understood his civic rights as a Roman citizen.

He did not compromise his faith, but neither did he reject lawful justice.

This balance is important for believers today.

Christians should:

• Respect lawful authority
• Engage society wisely
• Stand for truth
• Remain faithful to Christ above all else

 

6. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR NIGERIANS TODAY

FOR THE NATION

Believers must:

• Pray for Nigeria
• Pursue peace
• Promote justice
• Reject corruption
• Contribute positively

But believers must never place ultimate hope in politics.

Our ultimate hope is Christ.

 

FOR THE CHURCH

The Nigerian Church must remain:

• Gospel-centered
• Spirit-filled
• Biblically grounded
• United in Christ

The Church must reject:

• Tribalism
• Hatred
• Corruption
• Compromise

Revelation 7:9 paints the picture of God’s Kingdom:
People from every tribe and tongue worship together.

This is the model for the Church in Nigeria.

 

FOR YOU PERSONALLY

God is calling you to:

• Know Him deeply
• Walk faithfully
• Discover purpose
• Influence your generation
• Live with eternal perspective

Do not underestimate your role.

One surrendered believer can impact an entire generation.

A CALL TO ACTION FOR INAV

INAV, this is your moment to rise as Kingdom-minded believers.

Nigeria does not merely need:

• More opinions
• More arguments
• More social media outrage

Nigeria needs:

• Spirit-filled believers
• Biblically grounded disciples
• Kingdom-minded leaders
• People of integrity
• Men and women who truly know God

This is the time to:

• Return to prayer
• Return to Scripture
• Return to holiness
• Return to Kingdom focus

Let your life become evidence of God’s reality.

Be the believer who:

• Represents Christ boldly
• Serves faithfully
• Walks humbly
• Loves genuinely
• Speaks truth courageously
• Lives with eternal purpose

CONCLUSION: ONE GOD, ONE PURPOSE

God created the earth with a purpose.

He established nations so people could seek Him.

Out of the nations, He is building a Church through Jesus Christ.

And within that Church, He has a purpose for you.

The nation handles earthly systems.
The Church carries a heavenly mission.
You live in both—but your ultimate citizenship is in heaven.

So:

• Pray for Nigeria
• Serve faithfully
• Love the Church
• Seek God deeply
• Live for Christ boldly

And may your life become a testimony of the Kingdom of God in your generation.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.” — Psalm 33:12
